Nothing quite compares to the woody semi hollow tone of a '60s Gibson thinline, and this 1964 ES-335 is a fantastic example of a 'Clapton Spec' ES-335. Constructed from the typical Maple semi hollow body and Mahogany neck, the factory stop tail bridge variation of the ES-335 is by far the least common.

This guitar has had some running repairs and changes over the years which are reflected in the price. The original Cherry finish is in good condition with plenty of patina and checking, and no excessive wear save for a patch of buckle rash on the rear of the body. There is evidence of a previous headstock split repair at some point on the back of the headstock, which has been professionally repaired along with some lacquer touch up. The front of the headstock remains original and untouched. The neck has benefitted from a refret, and at some point a newer set of Kluson style tuners have been fitted.

The electronics, pickups and other hardware are correct for the period and appear original, with a nylon saddle Gibson bridge and stop tail piece in place and a set of Patent No. pickups that offer all the woody hollowbody tone you could want from a Gibson of this period. The pickup covers have been changed at some point, and there is evidence of some solder touchup in the wiring harness. This guitar also includes a non original hard case.

This guitar has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
