Guild guitars from the 1950s and 1960s are widely regarded for their quality and craftsmanship, with instruments from the Hoboken, New Jersey factory standing out for their attention to detail and reliable construction.

This 1963 Guild Bert Weedon model is an interesting and rare guitar to find from this period, albeit with some changes carried out that deviate from the intended Bert Weedon spec. Designed with a slightly deeper 2" thick body, the Bert Weedon featured a fully hollowbody design with a floating bridge. According to the previous owner, who purchased this guitar from its original owner, this guitar was sent back to Guild to be modified to Starfire spec at some point in the '60s. A Hagstrom style adjustable bridge has been drilled in to the top, with blocks added in the body to support it. The original Bert Weedon signature truss rod cover and pickguard have also been replaced. A Starfire label also appears to have been added. Otherwise, this guitar is internally and externally original, with the original DeArmond pickups, used for the first production year before switching to humbuckers, Guild branded Bigsby vibrato, and original Kolb floral tuners. This guitar also includes a period chipboard case.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
