In the early '60s, many guitar brands eschewed the kind of instruments that were being produced by the likes of Fender & Gibson in favour of a more unique approach to guitar building. As such, many of these brands gained a cult following over the years, with the original early '60s London made Burns guitars being the most celebrated example of this in the UK, with players such as Jimmy Page, Hank Marvin and even Elvis Presley being seen with these early Burns guitars at one time or another.
This 1963 Burns Sonic is a fantastic example of a Burns from this period. These guitars were Burns student orientated offering at the time, with a smaller offset style body and neck featuring a comfortably low profile that is very playable. The body fitted with 2 Burns made Tri-Sonic pickups that cover an incredible range of tones, with everything from warm, jazzy sounds in the neck position to twangy '60s garage rock sounds from the bridge pickup, along with a Burns 'Master Tremolo' vibrato tailpiece.
This instrument is internally and externally original, including the original Van Gent plastic button tuners found on some models, and includes a period hard case.
This guitar is in very good condition with only very minor cosmetic signs of play wear to the finish. This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
