Guild’s archtop models from the early 1960s remain some of the finest examples of American guitar craftsmanship, often offering superb quality at a more accessible price than their Gibson counterparts. Built in Hoboken, New Jersey, this 1962 Guild A-150 Savoy highlights the brand’s reputation for producing elegant, full voiced hollow body instruments that bridged the gap between jazz tradition and the evolving popular music of the decade.
The A-150 features a full 17-inch laminated maple body with a spruce top, paired with a comfortable three-piece mahogany and maple neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard. Its single DeArmond Rhythm Chief pickup delivers a clear, articulate tone with plenty of warmth and definition, ideal for jazz playing styles. Additional period correct details include open-back Waverley tuners, a rosewood adjustable bridge, and the distinctive Guild “harp” tailpiece.
This example remains in very good condition for its age, with some minor signs of play wear. This guitar also includes a period hard case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
