The Gibson ES-120T was introduced in 1962 as the companies student model electric arch top. This 1962 model from the first production year is a wonderful example of just how fun to play these guitars can be. The thin line arch top body is fully hollow and features only one 'F' hole, with the other side of the top featuring a thicker, larger pick guard that houses all of the guitars electronics. The Melody Maker single coil pickup pairs nicely with the hollow body design, offering a familiar warm arch top tone that is a little brighter and cuts through a little more than other pickup options would. The mahogany set neck features a comfortable profile that is full feeling without being chunky.
This guitar is in very good condition, with the kind of minor signs of play wear that you would expect from an instrument of this age. The pickguard had sustained some small cracks, which is common with these models, and these have now been repaired by our luthiers. The pickup has also been rewound, with this guitar having a particularly punchy output.
As with all vintage instruments, this 1962 ES-120T has been given a full service by the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
