The Hofner 500/3 Senatory Bass was, like its 6 string equivalent, the working musicians hollow body bass in the Hofner range. Hofner were distributed in the UK extensively by Selmer, and as such you often see some very nice examples of vintage Hofner guitars available in the UK. This 1960 Hofner 500/3 Senator is a wonderfully clean example, with all the vintage hollow body thump you would expect from one of these instruments.
This guitar is in excellent condition, constructed from a carved Spruce top with beautifully figured Maple back and sides, with the back in particular displaying some spectacular flame. The body is fitted with a single Hofner pickup in the neck position that offers a round, deep tone that is one of the cornerstones of '60s rock and soul bass sounds.
This guitar is in very good condition with plenty of lacquer checking but very little major play wear to the body or neck. This guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, along with a neck reset, and includes a 3 year warranty.
