Originally launched in 1955 as a natural top version of Gibson’s Southern Jumbo, the Gibson Country Western quickly became one of the brand’s most popular dreadnought acoustics throughout the 1960s. This particular example is first-year model in fantastic condition, showcasing the classic slope shoulder body shape. Crafted with a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, it delivers a wonderfully balanced tone. Gibson acoustics from this era were typically more lightly built and braced than later versions, resulting in a more resonant and responsive sound compared to the square shoulder models that followed. This Country Western also includes the signature split parallelogram pearl inlays and crown headstock logo, which add a touch of vintage flair.

This guitar is in excellent condition for its age, with only the faintest signs of play wear to the finish. It is internally and externally original with the exception of a newer saddle, and is free of any repair work. Interestingly, this guitar has both the larger pointed pickguard, and the earlier spec scalloped bracing, making it a transitional mid '55 example.

As with all our vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a thorough service by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and is guaranteed for 2 years in line with our vintage instrument warranty. Get an additional 3 years workshop warranty cover with the No.Tom Guitars Extended Warranty
