The Gibson J-45 was first introduced in 1942 as the companies flagship, affordable dreadnought guitar, and remained so for many decades to follow. It now stands as one of the most popular flat tops across the board.

This highly sought after 'banner' model features the "Only a Gibson is good enough" headstock banner logo, and is constructed from a Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, with scalloped X bracing, giving a particularly open and resonant sound. If you are looking for a 'Banner' era J-45, this one is a cannon!

The neck profile is a comfortable, more rounded style profile unlike the sometimes 'baseball bat' necks found on these instruments. The fretboard is made from Rosewood as opposed to the Gum Wood sometimes found on Gibson fingerboards during wartime production due to Rosewood shortages, and unlike most war-time guitars, this J-45 has a factory fitted truss-rod.

This guitar is in great original condition but at some point in it's life the original bridge had been removed and replaced for a newer bridge - however, the owner kept the original bridge and then it has since been put back on the instrument and returned to 100% original condition. Additionally it has had a metal reinforced bridge plate fixed on top of the original - this does not affect the guitars playability and could be easily reversed by our head luthier (as the original remains in situ). The finish has aged beautifully with the kind of lacquer checking that looks like a piece of art. The neck has also previously been reset.

Includes non original hard shell case.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
