This 1939 Rickenbacker Model B is a wonderful instrument from the golden era of Rickenbacker Steel production, made in Los Angeles, CaliforniaMuch like Fender, Rickenbacker are another company with a rich heritage in lapsteel instruments, and were the first company to successfully mass produce lapsteel guitars for a growing market, with many of the design elements carried on in to their electric guitar production.
This 1939 Model B is in fantastic condition and really showcases the charm of pre-war Rickenbacker lapsteels, even featuring the pre-war spelling 'Rickenbacher' on the headstock. The moulded bakelite body features hollow cavities covered with the white plastic guards, and the 1 1/2" horseshoe magnet design pickup, often considered to be the finest sounding lapsteel pickup ever designed. The sound is clear and defined. This lapsteel also features the metal plate headstock logo that was standard for the period, along with the original tuners and string through body bridge design.
