Dobro resonators have long been regarded as some of the finest resonator instruments produced, and along with National have become synonymous with quality resonator instruments for nearly 100 years.
This 1929 Dobro Model 55 round neck is a great example of a second year, California built 12 fret Dobro, with the model being one of the companies professional wood body guitars at the time (first launched in 1928).
Constructed with a birch maple body, the Model 55 features a single cone, 'spider-bridge' resonator system - a key innovation by the Dopyera brothers that distinguished Dobros from other resonator brands. The bound body and round sound holes (as opposed to f-holes, which appeared on later models) are typical of this early production era.
The tone is bright, with strong midrange presence and the distinctive growl that makes these early Dobros so sought after for slide and fingerstyle playing.
This guitar is in good all-original condition, with plenty of play wear accrued over the years, you can tell this instrument has been loved - which only lends to its character.
As with all our vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a thorough service by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and is guaranteed for 2 years in line with our vintage instrument warranty. Get an additional 3 years workshop warranty cover with the No.Tom Guitars Extended Warranty.
