Built in Mirecourt, France during the late 19th century, this Jerome Thibouville-Lamy parlour guitar is a fine example of the craftsmanship that defined the Romantic era of European guitar making. Constructed in the tradition of René Lacôte, it reflects the refined aesthetic and tonal character typical of French lutherie from the period.

Featuring a solid spruce top with rosewood back and sides, this instrument was built with the high-quality tonewoods and detailed ornamentation that were hallmarks of the Thibouville-Lamy workshop. The guitar’s small parlour size make it a responsive and comfortable instrument to play, while the ebony fingerboard, delicate purfling, and original tuning machines speak to its level of craftsmanship.

Despite its age, this guitar remains in remarkable condition, though it has had a number of repairs to keep it playing as it should and ensure it is structurally sound. The neck has recently been reset, and there have been a number of previous crack repairs, the most severe of which is on the bottom edge of the instrument. The bridge also appears to have been repaired at some point.

This guitar has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
