Originally introduced in 1958 as Fender’s top-of-the-line luxury model, the Jazzmaster evolved from its jazz origins into a definitive mainstay of surf, indie, shoegaze, and alternative rock. This 1997 "Crafted in Japan" (CIJ) '66 Reissue is a spectacular example of Fender Japan’s legendary offset craftsmanship, capturing all the slinky feel, chime, and expressive vibrato that make these guitars so endlessly popular.
Finished in original Sonic Blue, nearly three decades of light aging have given this instrument a show-stopping look, with the clear coat settling into a soft, Seafoam-tinged vintage hue. Accentuated by an aged three-ply pickguard and naturally yellowed pickup covers and control knobs, it possesses an incredible aesthetic charm.
Equipped with its original single-coil Jazzmaster pickups and classic dual-circuit wiring (featuring independent Rhythm and Lead circuits), it serves up a massive array of tones—from dark, woody neck warmth to wide, chiming bridge single-coil jangle that loves fuzz and reverb pedals.
The comfortable Maple neck is carved to a smooth '60s "C" profile, topped with a dark, beautifully figured Rosewood fingerboard with classic dot inlays and a vintage 7.25" radius.
The guitar has had a replacement Tune O'Matic bridge but otherwise remains in original condition. This 1997 model is in superb condition. It shows only light signs of use, minor edge wear, and subtle handling marks that reflect careful play over the years.
