Fender Japan’s late-1980s production run from the legendary FujiGen factory is widely considered by players and collectors to be a high-water mark for the brand. Offering meticulous craftsmanship and vintage accuracy that routinely gave contemporary American models a run for their money, these "Made in Japan" instruments have become true modern classics.
Finished in Olympic White, thirty-seven years of natural aging have transformed the finish into a gorgeous, warm vintage cream hue. Paired with a single-ply white pickguard and a one-piece Maple neck.
As seen in the photos, this 1989 example shows honest, authentic vintage character. It exhibits light play wear, subtle surface checking, small finish dings around the body contours, and a lovely patina on the nickel hardware that only a genuinely played 37-year-old bass can earn. The frets remain in great shape with plenty of life left, the neck is straight, and all electronics function perfectly.
This Bass has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
