1970s Mountain W120

This 1970s Mountain W120 acoustic is a Japanese made dreadnought, essentially a take on the classic Martin D-18 design. Made at the Hayashi factory in Japan, it has the familiar spruce topped, mahogany style construction and proportions associated with the American original, although it has a character of its own. One of the more unusual details is the very cool ‘CF Mountain’ headstock decal, which follows the look of the Martin logo surprisingly closely.

The guitar is in good condition for its age, with some lacquer checking and general play wear throughout. At some point it has also been fitted with a soundhole pickup and two controls mounted directly into the top. We would assume these are a later addition rather than a factory feature, although it is difficult to say for certain. Either way, they give the guitar a slightly makeshift, late 60s/early 90s feel that actually suits it rather well, with a definite 'Nirvana Unplugged' look to it!
