1944 Martin 00-18

Constructed at C.F. Martin's Nazareth factory during the height of WWII, 1944 instruments represent a legendary transitional moment in acoustic luthiery. Due to wartime steel rationing, Martin temporarily replaced its traditional steel T-bar neck reinforcement with a rigid Ebony neck rod. Revered by vintage purists, these wartime "ebony rod" acoustics are celebrated for being exceptionally lightweight and ultra-resonant, delivering an immediate, woody responsiveness that modern instruments simply cannot replicate.

Built with a solid Adirondack Spruce top paired with solid Mahogany back and sides, this 00-18 delivers a colossal voice for a grand concert body shape. Over eight decades of continuous vibration, the tonewoods have dried out completely, producing a warm, dry midrange, exceptional note separation, and a sweet, crystalline treble response. Its compact 00 body size makes it exceptionally comfortable to hold, while its scalloped-era internal architecture yields a wide, dynamic soundstage that responds effortlessly to fingerstyle and flatpickers.

This 1944 model radiates unbeatable pre-war style and authentic patina. It wears it's 82-year-old survivor history proudly. The finish displays heavy, honest play wear, including extensive lacquer checking, pick wear, buckle rash, and light surface marks that tell the story of a well-loved instrument.
