Electronic Audio Experiments Longsword

The Electronic Audio Experiments Longsword is a versatile op amp based overdrive designed to cover everything from clean boost and light grit through to heavily saturated distortion. Its cascaded gain stages provide a wide range of drive sounds while retaining the tonal flexibility needed to shape the pedal around different amplifiers and instruments. With its broad frequency response, the Longsword works particularly well with guitar, baritone, and bass.

The three band EQ combines shelving Low and High controls with an active Mid control, while the Shift switch selects the frequency targeted by the midrange circuit. This provides extensive control over the pedal’s voicing, allowing everything from subtle tonal adjustments to more pronounced midrange shaping for cutting through dense mixes.

A three way Diode switch further alters the pedal’s dynamics and headroom. MOSFET clipping provides moderate compression, the centre position removes the clipping diodes for maximum headroom and minimal compression, while the Silicon setting delivers a more compressed and saturated response. The footswitchable Boost adds a further layer of versatility, introducing up to 20dB of front end gain and midrange emphasis when engaged.
