2019 Gibson Studio J45 Walnut

First introduced in 1942, the J-45 is affectionately known as Gibson's "Workhorse" - a moniker earned over eight decades of powering legendary recordings across rock, folk, country, and blues. This 2017 J-45 Studio Walnut from the Bozeman, Montana factory offers a modern, highly articulate spin on the classic round-shoulder dreadnought, combining traditional Gibson construction with an exceptional tonewood pairing.

The defining feature of this model is its solid American Walnut back and sides, capped with a solid Sitka Spruce top finished in a rich, warm sunburst. Sonically, Walnut is a revelation: it possesses the tight, woody midrange punch of Mahogany combined with the extra treble clarity and overtone shimmer of Rosewood. Coupled with a slightly slimmer body depth than a traditional standard J-45, it delivers an amazingly balanced, articulate voice that is less boomy and far more controlled. 

As seen in the photos, this 2019 example is in fantastic original condition. The nitrocellulose gloss finish retains a deep shine with only the faintest signs of careful handling and light surface pick wear on the teardrop tortoise guard. The instrument has a very small hairline crack (about 3cm on the on side) that has been repaired to a very high standard and almost invisible to the eye. 

This guitar has had a LR Baggs Element VTC under-saddle pickup system fitted.
