2016 Gibson Custom Shop J-185 Vine Quilt

This is a particularly unusual Gibson acoustic, produced by the Custom Shop in Montana as a limited run of just 50 instruments. The J -85 has a slightly smaller body than the familiar J-200, offering much of the same Gibson character in a more compact form with perhaps slightly more balance to the output, while the Vine Quilt specification adds a distinctive decorative touch that sets this model apart from the standard production range.

Built with the attention to detail associated with Gibson's Custom Shop, this guitar combines the J-185 body shape with an especially striking figured maple back and ornate vine detailing. It is in very good condition and has no history of repairs. There is very little play wear to speak of, although some swirl marks are visible in the finish. There is also a small area of lacquer reaction on the rear of the neck, possibly caused by contact with a guitar stand or capo at some point.

This guitar comes complete with its original Gibson case and paperwork, making it a particularly interesting find for anyone looking for one of the less commonly encountered Custom Shop acoustics.
