The D-42 sits towards the upper end of Martin's standard production range, combining the familiar dreadnought design with the more elaborate appointments and construction associated with the 40 series. This 2000 example has all of the usual D-42 specification from the period and is a particularly good sounding guitar.
It has seen plenty of use over the years and shows this in the form of considerable play wear, along with natural lacquer ageing and checking across the finish. There are no serious repairs, although there is a crack to the top which has previously been professionally dealt with and is now secure.
The guitar retains its original case and has the sort of played in character that is difficult to replicate on a newer instrument. Despite the cosmetic wear, it remains a very good example of a period D-42, and most importantly, it sounds fantastic.
As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
