This is the sort of Stratocaster that deserves a second look. Combining early '60s specifications with a Sienna Sunburst finish more commonly associated with the CBS era, it's a slightly quirky combination that works rather well. The slab rosewood fingerboard and familiar Stratocaster lines give it plenty of vintage appeal, while the finish sets it apart from the more conventional reissues.
It's a great player, too. The '60s C shaped neck feels comfortable in the hand and is exceptionally easy to get around, with a lovely bouncy, responsive feel that usually points towards a good guitar and a good setup. The Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickups give it a little extra bite and midrange presence without losing that familiar vintage Stratocaster response, remaining lively and expressive across the pickup positions.
Built in Japan in 1997, this ST-62 TX is entirely original, internally and externally, including the smaller Japanese pots. It's in exceptional condition for its age, with just the odd mark of play wear and some light swirl marks in the finish. It comes complete with a gig bag.
As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 1 year warranty.
