Named in honour of Gibson’s legendary founder Orville Gibson, the Orville brand was created in the late 1980s as Gibson’s official, fully licensed brand exclusive to the Japanese domestic market. Built at the renowned FujiGen factory (world-famous for its master-tier guitar construction) these 1990s "MIJ" Les Pauls are widely celebrated by collectors for matching (and often exceeding) the build consistency and vintage accuracy of their American-made counterparts.
Finished in a vibrant, classic Cherry Sunburst, this LPS-75 features a carved Maple top over a solid Mahogany body with a gorgeous cherry-stained back. Under the hood, it is equipped with a pair of Japanese vintage-voiced humbuckers that deliver all the signature Les Paul grunt, sustain, and clarity you could ask for.
The solid Mahogany neck features a fast, highly playable '50s/early-'60s medium profile that feels rock-solid in the hand. It is capped with a richly grained Rosewood fingerboard sporting classic aged-pearloid trapezoid inlays and cream binding. The headstock features the correct "Open-O" Orville logo alongside the gold Les Paul Model script, equipped with vintage-style Kluson green-key machine heads.
As seen in the photos, this 1994 example is in fantastic, honest vintage condition. Having aged gracefully over three decades, it exhibits light handling marks, minor surface swirling, and small cosmetic dings around the body edges that lend it a wonderful, authentic "played-in" vibe. The nickel hardware has developed a subtle, attractive patina, the neck is straight, and the frets have plenty of life remaining.
