The Fender Stratocaster went through a number of specification changes during the 1970s, and this 1973 example is a good representation of the period. Finished in Olympic White, a particularly appealing custom colour, it features an alder body, maple neck with rosewood board and the three bolt neck with Micro Tilt adjustment introduced earlier in the decade.
The finish has developed some attractive yellowing with age, accompanied by authentic play wear around the body contours and across the back. There are further signs of use elsewhere, but nothing excessive, and the guitar remains in very good overall condition. It has been refretted and fitted with a new nut, while the original tuners, which had been removed at some point, are now back in place. The guitar is otherwise internally and externally original, although the grey bottom neck pickup appears to have been removed and resoldered at the ground and switch connections, so a previous rewind is possible, although all pickups date correctly and appear original to the guitar. Visible pot codes show 137 7310 & 137 7335. Supplied with its original case, also in very good condition.
As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
