Introduced in 1960, the Jazz Bass is one of Fender's most iconic instruments, with its tonal versatility and comfortable playability making it a go-to for musicians on stage and in the studio for the last half a century.
This 2021 Fender Custom '61 Jazz Bass Relic accurately recreates the tone and style of a played in pre-CBS Jazz Bass, precisely recreated with vintage correct specs, including a slab rosewood fretboard, clay dot inlays and the three knob electronic design introduced in mid 1961. Constructed from a lightweight 2 piece Alder body, this Jazz Bass is finished in a period correct three tone sunburst, with the relic treatment recreating the look of an instrument that has accrued a lifetime of play wear, buckle rash, hardware ageing and lacquer checking. The one piece Maple neck features an Oval 'U' neck profile with a 9.5" radius, giving a vintage feel without compromising on modern playability. The body is fitted with a Custom Shop hand wound '61 Jazz Bass single coil pickups, along with vintage wiring and wax paper caps.
