The Fender Custom Shop are known for producing some of the best modern recreations of vintage instruments around, and this 1962 Telecaster Custom Journeyman Relic is a perfect example. Featuring an Alder body finished in a lightly aged 3 Tone Sunburst with top and back binding, the Custom Shop Journeyman Relic treatment accurately recreates the subtle play wear and ageing from an instrument that has had decades of playing. The Maple neck features a slab Rosewood fingerboard and a early '60s style 'C' shape neck profile. The tuners and hardware are all period correct and aged to match the finish, and a tortoiseshell guard has been added, with the original relic'd white guard included.
What really sets this guitar apart is the Abigail Ybarra gold signed hand wound pickups. Joining Fender in 1956, Ybarra honed her pickup winding craft over the course of 57 years at Fender and built an entirely justified reputation as the best in the game, with a truly vintage tone that stands alone in the world of hand wound pickups.
