The Gibson Les Paul Standard has always been considered Gibsons flagship electric solid body, and along with the Stratocaster and Telecaster is one of the most iconic guitars around. This 1977 Les Paul Standard is a great example of a late '70s Les Paul after the standard model was reintroduced in 1976, with an excellent feel and tone for a fraction of the price of its '50s or '60s counterparts.
Featuring a 'pancake' Mahogany/Maple/Mahogany body and Maple top, this guitar is finished in late '70s style Cherry Sunburst that has aged nicely over the years and retained the majority of its vibrant red. The fretboard is in good condition, and the neck is comfortably playable without being too small in the hand. The pickups sound excellent, with the sort of growl you would expect from a Gibson humbucker. As ever, this guitar features all the typical Les Paul Standard appointments, with chrome hardware, a 'Standard' truss rod cover, pearloid block fretboard inlay and an added period correct Bigbsy vibrato
This guitar is in very good cosmetic condition, with the majority of the wear to the rear of the body, and includes a non original hard case. The tuners have been replaced at some point, and the Nashville style bridge is a later repro. the original pots date to the 17th week of 1976, and the tone caps have been changed. Both Pat. Number pickups are present and correct, although the bridge pickup surround has been changed. The control knobs are also newer. This guitar has been given a full service & setup by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
