With a stripped back look compared to the abalone inlaid top of the line models of the time, and its rootsy yet articulate sound, the D-18 has stood the test of time with players throughout the decades. This model from 1968 is a fantastic example of an affordable vintage Martin, featuring a nicely aged Spruce top and Mahogany back, sides & neck. The D-18 has a more has a beautifully balanced tonal character, with all the clarity and string definition you expect from a vintage Martin. The warmth of the Mahogany balances well with the brightness and attack of the Spruce, for a sound that is versatile enough for pretty much any playing style. This guitar features the traditional belly down bridge, black pick guard, and was the first production year to use a rosewood bridge plate instead of maple. This guitar is in very good condition, with some very minor play wear to the front and rear of the body and headstock, along with the kind of lacquer ageing and patina you would expect from a guitar of this age. This guitar appears original and repair free, and includes a period correct hard case.
