Introduced in 1959, the Gibson EB-0 was the entry point to the solid body bass guitar range offered by Gibson. This 1963 Gibson EB-3 is a great example of the SG body shape variation of the model introduced in 1961.
Constructed from a slab Mahogany body, the EB-0 features a shorter 30.5" scale length. The body is fitted with a larger humbucker in the neck position that gives a round, deep sound that is great for soulful, thumping bass, and pairs well with gain and fuzz. Other features include the 3 point bridge that was standard on the model, open gear tuners and the smaller SG style pickguard.
This guitar is in very good condition, with plenty of play wear and lacquer checking to the front and rear of the body, and the rear of the neck. The cherry finish remains strong on the body, but has slightly faded out on the rear of the neck. This guitar is internally and externally original, with the pots dating to the 44th week of 1962 (134 6244) The only change appears to be the upper strap button, which has been re-driled and the previous hole filled. This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, which includes a 3 year warranty.
