The Hofner Committee was the top of the range arch top offered by Hofner from the mid 1950s through to the late '60s. Hofner were distributed in the UK extensively by Selmer, and as such you often see some very nice examples of vintage Hofner guitars available in the UK. This 1956 Hofner Committee is however a slightly rarer find, with the electric versions of the model less common than their acoustic counterparts.
This guitar is in excellent condition, constructed from a carved Spruce top with beautifully figured Maple back and sides, and finished in a subtle golden tinted sunburst. The body is fitted with a set of single coil pickups that offer plenty of clarity, while the deep body arch top design gives the kind of jazzy, full bodied tone you would expect from this kind of guitar. The Committee was one of Hofner's most ornate models, featuring a Lyre style tailpiece, compensated saddle, and marbled multi ply binding. The headstock features the deluxe 'Frondose' design along with a set tuners with ornate floral buttons.
This guitar is in excellent condition with hardly any play wear to speak of, which is quite remarkable for an instrument of its age. This guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
