The Gibson LG 3/4 model made its debut in the 1950 Gibson catalog, with this particular example from 1957 being an exceptionally rare factory custom order left handed model. Left handed guitars from this era would have been made to order by Gibson, with this one showing enough evidence that it left the factory as a left handed instrument. There are fret position markers on both the lower and upper sides of the neck, perfectly matched in terms of size, position and ageing, with Gibson most likely repurposing a right handed neck for this guitar. The same can be said for the bridge, with a right handed saddle slot appearing to have been filled and re-cut for a left handed player. The bridge is original to the guitar with no evidence that it has ever been removed, and as such everything points to a right handed bridge being repurposed in the factory. The pickguard also shows no signs of ever having been off the instrument. An incredibly rare guitar to find from this era!

These guitars sport the ladder-braced Spruce top, commonly used in Gibson's more affordable models of that time. While they may not traditionally possess the resonance or character of X-braced models, there are numerous ladder-braced guitars from the '40s, '50s, and '60s that deliver exceptional sound quality, including this one. The neck profile offers a comfortable playing experience, featuring a more rounded, low-profile full 'C' characteristic of models from this era. Its shorter scale length further enhances its playability.

This guitar is in very good condition, exhibiting the expected signs of play wear for an instrument of its age. No significant repairs or breaks are evident, although there is some visible wear and lacquer aging around the pickguard and on the soundboard. We also believe that the re-cut, left hand orientated bridge saddle slot has been re-cut again at a later date for better intonation. This guitar also includes a rare 3/4 sized Lifton pink lined case.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
