The Gibson LG-1 was introduced in 1942 as an entry point to the smaller body Gibson Flat top range. Following a couple of years out of production during WW2, the post war models were reintroduced with ladder braced spruce tops and a sunburst finish, with these models continuing to be one of the go-to entry level Gibson flat tops throughout the '60s until they were discontinued in 1974. This 1954 Gibson LG-1 is a great early example of the model, and showcases some features that would be changed with the more common 1960's models. The guitar is constructed from a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, along with a set Mahogany neck that that is comfortable to play, with a fairly chunky 'C' style profile that is still very comfortable to play. The original celluloid guard is still in place, and has the smaller pickguard design found on these guitars pre-1955, as well as the block peghead logo introduced in 1948. The original wooden bridge is in good condition. This guitar is the perfect example of focused, woody tone that you can get with early ladder braced Gibson acoustics.

This guitar is in very good condition, with the kind of minor signs of age and play wear to the finish that you would expect from an instrument of this age. This guitar is in original condition and includes a non original case.

As with all vintage instruments, this 1954 LG-1 has been given a full service by the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
