1949 Gibson LG-3

The Gibson LG-3 was produced between 1942 and 1962, with a small break during World War 2, and was one of the higher spec small bodied acoustics offered by Gibson at this time, with the more resonant X bracing and a natural spruce top. This 1949 Gibson LG-3 is a fantastic example of a '40s Gibson, often considered the companies golden era for build quality and sound. This LG-3 is from the first full production year to feature the gold block font headstock logo, and is constructed from a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, with a triple bound body and teardrop celluloid pickguard.

These guitars featured scalloped X bracing, and are very lightly built, making for a tone that is extremely open and resonant, with this LG-3 clearly having been extensively played in over the years resulting in a wonderfully responsive tone. The neck profile is a comfortable, with the more rounded, low profile feel found on models from this period, and is more playable and comfortable than the chunky 'V' shapes found in the pre-war period. 

This guitar is in very good condition for an instrument of its age, with all the signs of play wear you would expect. There appear to have been no serious repairs or breaks with the exception of a small crack on the back that has been repaired and is stable. The tuners are original Kluson single line, no hole variants although the buttons appear to have been changed. Other than that, this instrument is in all original condition, and includes a non original case.
