Since the first signature models appeared in the mid 1950's, Gretsch Chet Atkins guitars have become one of the most recognisable vintage guitar models, with their chiming country tone and unique Gretsch styling being used by guitarists across many genres. This 2015 Gretsch G6119 Chet Atkins is one of the less common variations of the model, with a stripped back single pickup design that allows the classic Gretsch sound to be front and centre. The body is constructed from laminated Maple with 3 ply arched Maple top, along with vintage style trestle bracing and a Flagstaff Sunset finish. The single TV Jones Powertron bridge pickup offers plenty of clarity and bite, with a top end that cuts through perfectly for country style flat picking, but is also equally at home with a more overdriven sound. The electronics also include a vintage style 3 way Master tone switch that is found on all Chet Atkins models, giving plenty of variation around the single pickup. The Maple neck features and Ebony fingerboard and Neo Classic Thumbnail inlays. Other features include a zero fret, aged binding, Grover Stay Tite tuners, a Bigsby B6 vibrato and a Chet Atkins signature sign post pick guard to round off the vintage looks.
This guitar is in excellent, all original condition with barely any signs of play wear, and has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop. It also includes its original Gretsch hard case.
