The Martin D-28 has developed a rich history over the years, and is seen by many as a true workhorse acoustic flat top and arguably Martin's flagship Spruce & Rosewood guitar. This 2001 Martin HD-28 LSV is a fairly unique example of an early 2000's vintage series model, with a spec that is especially reminiscent of a pre war herringbone dreadnought, although with the addition of a large sound hole.
Constructed from a Sitka Spruce top with Rosewood back and sides, the HD-28 LSV was initially conceived after the release of the Clarence White signature model, taking a standard HD-28 Vintage Rosewood model and adding the large sound hole design from the Clarence White guitar. The result is an absolute cannon of a Dreadnought, with a resonance and volume that we have only heard before on some of the absolute best vintage Martin guitars.
The top is braced with scalloped forward shifted X bracing, giving it a real responsiveness, while the neck features the vintage style 'V' shaped profile, recreating the feel of the original pre war models perfectly. This guitar is in very good condition, and shows only very minor signs of play wear.
As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
