The Squier Silver Series marked a short lived return for Squier production in Japan. The initial run of Squier instruments made in Japan in the 1980's are now revered as classics among many players, due to their affordability and build quality. After a period of being made in Korea, the Silver Series returned to Fender's Japanese production facility in 1992. This 1996 Squier Silver Series 50th Anniversary Stratocaster is from the last year of the Silver Series, and is a great example of the quality of these guitars.
Featuring an Alder body and Maple neck, this Silver Series Strat stays fairly true to the vintage style spec of other MIJ Fender models. Although more modern than the Fender Japan '57 & '62 reissues, the body is fitted with a set of three vintage voiced single coil pickups that offer that typically bell-like Strat chime. The neck has a comfortable modern 'C' neck profile, and the headstock is fitted with a set of Gotoh tuners. The electronics are original, and feature the standard smaller sized Japanese made pots and pickup selector switch.
