Made in Bozemna, Montana, this 1995 Gibson Custom Shop Advanced Jumbo 1936 Reissue is a fantastic recreation of one of Gibson's most revered flat top models. In the mid-1930s, Gibson luthiers aimed to create the most powerful flat-top acoustic guitar, rivalling Martin to be the go-to choice for pro players at the time. The result was the Advanced Jumbo (AJ), renowned today for its exceptional power and resonance. This was achieved through an innovative X-bracing pattern that enhanced resonance and projection. Only about 300 units were produced during its initial three-year run, making the AJ a rare find. Reintroduced in 1990, the Advanced Jumbo is now celebrated for its vintage tone, rich harmonics, and strong presence.
This guitar is an exceptional example of a Gibson Custom Shop acoustic guitar, showcasing the craftmanship that came from the sadly now closed Bozeman factory. Constructed from an Adirondack Red Spruce top and Rosewood back and side, this Advanced Jumbo stays true to its vintage counterparts with a punchy, resonant sound with a tight low end and plenty of top end sparkle and clarity. The Mahogany neck features a Rosewood fingerboard and period correct neck profile, along with pearled diamond and arrowhead headstock and fretboard inlays, along with the traditional Gibson script logo. Other features include an active piezo pickup system, vintage style tiger strip guard, and closed back Kluson style tuners.
This guitar is in excellent condition and has been very well looked after, with almost no signs of play wear to speak of. This guitar also includes its original case.
This guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
