The second iteration of the Telecaster Custom was launched in 1972 and marked a significant moment for Fender, blending their powerful Wide Range humbucker in the neck position with the classic Tele single coil at the bridge. This combination offered a new level of tonal flexibility that quickly won favour with players. This particular example from 1977 features a slab body in a sleek black finish and the distinctive three-bolt neck design. The neck feels smooth and comfortable, while the original Seth Lover-designed Wide Range Humbucker delivers a rich, full-bodied tone with the clarity and sparkle you'd expect from a Fender.

This guitar is in good condition, showing only light signs of use including some minor play wear, and a patch of oversprayed black lacquer on the upper part of the cutaway and lower edge of the body. The bridge pickup appears to have been rewound at some point. The readable pot codes date to the 51st week of 1975 and the 38th and 43rd weeks of 1976. This guitar also includes a non original period hard case.
