The 1970s CBS era brought a wave of changes to many models in the Fender lineup, with redesigns of classic instruments and the introduction of new ones. This 1974 Fender Stratocaster is a prime example of an early '70s Fender, demonstrating that the CBS period produced some excellent guitars.

This '74 Stratocaster sports an Olympic White factory finish that has naturally aged and developed a warm yellow hue over time. Built with an Alder body and a Maple neck and fretboard, it has a well-balanced weight—unlike many mid-'70s Fenders—and features a comfortable '70s-style 'C' neck profile, which leans slightly towards the flatter side. All the hallmark early-'70s appointments are present, including the larger headstock, three-bolt 'F' stamped neck plate, and bullet truss rod.

The guitar remains in very good condition, with natural play wear and lacquer checking visible on both the front and back of the body, as well as some yellowing of the headstock lacquer. The original pickups are intact, featuring the grey bobbins commonly found on Strats from this era. The three original pots carry a date code of 137 7430, and the rest of the wiring loom remains unaltered, including the original three-way switch. This guitar also comes with its original Fender hard case.
