The Gibson ES-175 was introduced in 1949 as the companies mid level electric arch top, as a more affordable option to the high end L5 models, and remained the companies flagship deep body electric arch top for 70 years. This model from 1973 is a wonderful example of a more affordable, later period ES-175, featuring the lesser seen Natural finished hollow body design fitted with a set of Patent No. humbuckers. This guitar is constructed from a Maple top with Maple back and sides. This guitar features a comfortable, slim neck profile with a crown peg head inlay and the typical split parallelogram fingerboard inlay.
This guitar is in very good condition, and is internally and externally original. The only visible pot code dates to the middle of 1973, and all other hardware and wiring appears original except for the tuners, which have been replaced, with previous screw holes visible. The finish has sustained minimal play wear and patina, with some minor lacquer checking and a fair amount of yellowing over time. This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
