First introduced in 1960 serve as a top of the line model alongside the J-200, the Gibson Hummingbird has been one of the most played and sought after acoustic guitars of the last 50 years, remaining a constant in the Gibson catalog since its introduction. This 1968 Hummingbird is a great players example from the last really excellent year of Gibson flattop production in the 1960's, with the braces becoming bulkier and the guitars becoming slightly less resonant from 1969 onwards. Constructed from a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, the Hummingbird features a beautifully ornate pick guard similar to that of the later Dove mode, along with the natural top available as an option post 1963. This guitar features all the 1968 specs you would expect to find, with a belly up rosewood bridge, adjustable rosewood saddle, screw down 5 point pickguard and gold double lined Kluson Deluxe tuners.

This guitar is in good condition, and has clearly seen some play wear and patina over its life. The neck has previously been reset, and there also appears to have been some crack repairs around the neck heel and at the top of the back of the body at some point in its life. The back has also been previously over sprayed. This guitar also includes a non original hard case.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
