This 1966 Gibson ES-335 TD is a superbly clean example of a cherry-finished model from a production run of roughly 1000 that year. A textbook mid-’60s Gibson thinline, it delivers the rich, woody tone and vintage feel that define this era.

This guitar is in very good, all-original condition, with the exception of missing its original pickguard. The previous owner (a bass player!) had this guitar in their possession since the early 1970's, and it has only been played a limited number of times between then and now. The cherry nitro finish shows only light lacquer checking and minimal play wear. The neck features the desirable 1 11/16" nut width—soon to be phased out by the end of ’66—with a slim, fast profile and signature pearl block inlays. Original double line, double ring Kluson tuners remain intact, along with the factory trapeze tailpiece and ABR-1 bridge.

Electronics appear untouched and are correct for the period, with a clean set of Patent No. humbuckers that deliver warm, articulate tones with plenty of character. Pickup covers and Patent No. decals are intact, and the original wiring harness shows no signs of modification, with a partially legible pot code reading 137 65XX.

A beautifully preserved example of a classic ES-335 from Gibson’s golden age—tone, feel, and style all present and correct. This guitar includes a purple lined Gibson hard case.
