The Olympic model has, at various times, been the student model in the Epiphone range. Initially introduced as a rather plain looking arch top in the 1930s, the 50's & '60s saw a reintroduction and drastic redesign after the companies acquisition Gibson, with the model taking on a slightly tweaked appearance inline with the Gibson Melody Maker. This 1964 Epiphone Olympic is a wonderful example of this model, and in exceptional condition.
Featuring a Mahogany body and set neck construction, this Olympic is lightweight and extremely comfortable to play. The body is fitted with a single coil pickup identical to the one featured in the Melody Maker Gibson guitars, with plenty of chime and crystal clear top end. This guitar features the slimmer headstock design found on these models pre 1965, a celluloid pickguard and wrap around stop tail bridge.
This guitar is in excellent condition, with barely any signs of play wear to speak of. It is internally and externally original, with the original finish, electronics, single coil pickup and all hardware being present and correct. Also included is the original chipboard case and Epiphone hang tag. The full package!
This guitar has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
