The steel string 0-18 first started to appear in the Martin line up in the mid 1920's, after years of variations of the Style 18 model from the mid 18th century onwards. The classic Spruce top, smaller '0' body shape design is one of the sweetest guitars in the Martin line up, with a beautifully resonant, balanced tone that often belies their smaller size.

This 1961 Martin 0-18 is a great example of a post war period 0-18. Constructed from a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, this guitar has a lightweight build that makes it more resonant than you would expect, responding very well to both finger style playing and flat picking with a subtlety and definition that is typical of Martin guitars form this period.

Its short scale and soft V neck profile make it an incredibly playable and expressive instrument, with a voice that’s open, sweet, and unmistakably vintage Martin.

This model features the celluloid guard and binding as found on these earlier models, and as common with these has been subject to some minor shrinkage and a small crack between the guard and the bridge. Our own TVIW luthier Gerald has glued, cleated and stress tested the crack.

This guitar is in very good condition, with the expected signs of play wear to the top and back of the body, along with the rear of the neck.

As with all our vintage instruments, this 1961 0-18 has been given a full service and appraisal by the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
