One of National's most peculiar creations of the 1950s, this 1958 National Reso-Phonic is a solid body resonator guitar, somewhat surprisingly designed solely as an acoustic instrument with no built in pickup. Featuring a 1930s-style resonator cone set into a solid wood body, this Reso-Phonic is wrapped in an off white pearloid finish, with additional rear cover plate for the cone.
The upper half of the body features a plastic pickguard adorned with pinstripes and National’s signature metal shield badge. Its bolt-on neck has a very comfortabel 22 inch scale, borrowed from National's budget Supro student models, making it exceptionally comfortable and lightweight to play. The headstock features a vintage-style National logo sticker.
A unique and unusual piece of National resonator history, this 1958 Reso-Phonic actually boasts a mighty sound, and is the perefect resonator to have kicking around the house for casual playing with true vintage tone. This guitar is all original, with the exception of the bridge, which has been repalced. This guitar also includes a period case.
