This 1936 National Trojan is a superb example of one of National's most accessible and widely used wood-bodied resonator guitars from the pre-war era. Introduced in the early 1930s, the Trojan was National's answer to the demand for a less expensive alternative to their metal-bodied instruments, without sacrificing the powerful projection and unique tone of the resonator design.

The Trojan features a birch laminate body with a single-cone resonator and a 14-fret mahogany neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard. Unlike its metal-bodied counterparts, the wood construction offers a warmer, more rounded tone, while still delivering the punch and volume resonator guitars are known for—ideal for blues, slide, and roots music.

This 1936 example is in all-original condition, including the stamped metal coverplate, slotted headstock with original tuners, and original natural finish. It uses the biscuit bridge system, which contributes to its dry, punchy attack and classic National sound.
